Yoga weeks

Quinta da Valada hosts several yoga weeks throughout the year, these weeks are all about yoga, mindfulness & healthy food. Yoga has a positive influence on the body and the mind, that is why it can enrich your life. Mindfulness helps you to consciously live your life and to listen to the signals of your body. Healthy food influences your mood in a positive way and ensures you feel great. Combining these three, helps you to find and keep your balance.

All our weeks have a maximum of 8 participants, which ensures we can provide personal attention to every single person. We welcome everyone, regardless of the experience, stamina or age. Perfectly fitting the moment of the day, different types of yoga classes will be taught by qualified teachers.

Mindfulness
Literally mindfulness means ‘to be mindful / consciously present in the here and now’. Take a step back to be in the moment, with yourself, fully conscious of what is right now. This view of life can help you to accept the very moment, whether it is lovely or less lovely. Learn how to live ‘minful’ so that your body recognises and listens to signals of stress and tension. Whether it is about how you schedule your life, how you go around with friends, family, colleagues or for example your eating pattern: by taking a step back to be in the moment, you will live your life in a more healthy way, a way that perfect for you. During the yoga weeks daily meditation sessions will be held.

Healthy food
Delicious and healthy eating is an excellent combination. That is what we experience very single day. A conscious choice for healthy food makes life so much more enjoyable! By making simple and healthy choices every day, you make huge changes in your life. 

We cook vegetarian meals with as much fresh, biological products from our vegetable garden as possible. We also use local, seasonal products. Great for your body, mind and the environment. What you eat has a direct influence on how you feel. Negative and positive. Discover for yourself during the yoga week!

 

Yoga styles:

Hatha Yoga teaches you to control your body and breath by practising different yoga poses and breathing techniques. Your body is opening up and stress is being reduced. Hatha yoga is quite an easy and slow style.  

Yin Yoga is a static, almost meditative style of yoga. Poses are being held for a longer period of time, to loosen up the connective tissue and the joints. Explore your boundaries in a slow pace en feel the free flow of energy trough out your whole body.

Flow Yoga is an easy but intense style of yoga where one pose smoothly flows into another on the rhythm of the breath. The level of intensity is in between hatha yoga and power yoga. It calms the mind, strengthens the muscles and makes sure you become one with the present moment. 

Power / Vikasa Yoga is a very intense style of yoga, where one pose smoothly flows into another on the rhythm of the breath. It calms the mind, strengthens the muscles and makes sure you become one with the present moment. Vikasa yoga is specifically based on physical power and strengthening the core muscles. It is a step further than power yoga (not for beginners).
